Few vehicles deliver presence like a Range Rover. Buying one well means being honest about which model in the family actually fits your use.

Choosing within the family

The full-size Range Rover is the luxury statement. Sport trades some rear space for a more engaging drive. Velar prioritises design, and Evoque is the urban entry point.

Most disappointment we see comes from buyers choosing on badge rather than on interior space, towing requirement and how the car will actually be used each week.

Specification advice

Air suspension, the upgraded audio, heated and cooled seats and the full driver assistance suite are strongly favoured on the used market.

Very large wheels look purposeful but hurt ride quality on Australian roads and increase tyre costs meaningfully.

Reliability, honestly

Recent generations are substantially improved, but electrical and air suspension complaints persist across the market and should be priced into any used purchase.

A complete franchised service history and an extended warranty are worth paying for on these vehicles more than on almost any other prestige SUV.

Resale expectations

Depreciation in the first three years is steeper than the German equivalents, which is exactly why well-kept three-year-old examples can be excellent value.

If you intend to hold long term, buying used with warranty often produces a better total-cost outcome than ordering new.
